Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure where a series of superfine injections of vitamins, minerals and amino acids cocktails are delivered into the mesodermal layer of the skin. This infusion of savvy ingredients nourishes and rejuvenates the skin while also stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, both essential for skin’s natural elasticity.
What are the benefits?
Mesotherapy can instantly improve dull, tired looking skin and superficial wrinkles but can also help to improve sluggish blood circulation, aiding the body to flush out ageing toxins. This treatment can also be used to address pigmentation problems, treat acne scarring and be combined to enhance the effects of other aesthetic treatments such as Botox or fillers.
What can you expect?
Treatment time takes approximately thirty minutes and whilst not painful, it can be slightly uncomfortable so an anaesthetic cream can be used if skin is a little sensitive. With minimal downtime – a little bruising and swelling may occur but it will be short lived and should settle within 24 hours – skin will become more radiant, hydrated, nourished and firmer with an improved texture. A course of 3-6 sessions are advised every three to four weeks with maintenance treatments 1-2 times a year.
PRP Skin Rejuvenation
Treatment with PRP is an innovative technique for skin rejuvenation and hair regrowth. Platelets are small parts of the cell that circulate in the blood, and they possess among their many functions, the ability to trigger the process of repair and re-growth of damaged cells. Once a tissue is damaged, as the blood arrives, with it comes the platelets, which are activated by various natural chemical factors and stimulate the cells of the damaged organism to repair. The wounds are thus healed; bones are recomposed, and so on. Skin looks more youthful; scars can fade and dormant hair follicles are regenerated.
What does PRP treatment consist of?
The technique involves the use of, growth factors, present in your own blood, with the purpose of stimulating, enhancing and accelerating the regeneration of tissues. A blood sample is taken and placed in a test tube, much like when you have a routine blood test. This is then placed for several minutes in a special centrifuge which serves to separate the sample into several parts. In the lower part the red and white blood cells collect, whereas in the upper part plasma and platelets are found. The platelet gel thus obtained is then used to repair the tissue to be treated and may can be administered using traditional Mesotherapy or intradermal injections.
When is the application of this technique advised?
The usefulness of these growth factors has long been noted for various conditions, not only related to the skin. PRP finds a wealth of uses in fields as diverse as vascular surgery, dentistry and also the treatment of baldness, where it has attracted particular attention as a result of its reputation for safety, usability and good results. Here factors stimulate cell replication in various parts of the follicle in order to keep the replicating phase of the hair itself, thus restarting hair growth. However, the main difference compared to other factors is that the extremely powerful concentration of naturally occurring growth factors is able to stimulate the growth cells present in order to give rise to the growth of the hair stem.
What are the applications of PRP in aesthetic medicine?
The use of growth factors in aesthetic medicine, thanks to an injection technique, can cause an attenuation of wrinkles and an increase the thickness and brightness of the skin, making it appear younger and firmer, ensuring a genuinely natural revitalization. This treatment is particularly suitable for the rejuvenation of the face, hands, neck and chest, but can be used on many parts of the body.
What should be expected after treatment?
After treatment, you can immediately return to normal daily work and social activities. After each session, for a few days there is a slight swelling of the skin with a mild lifting effect. The results start to become visible after about 24 hours, and will be progressively better after each successive treatment session.
The number of sessions varies from patient to patient and depends on the degree of skin aging. It is usually advised to undergo three sessions in the first year, with a space of at least a month between each one and after two sessions annually in order to maintain the desired effect.
Are there any side effects to this treatment?
The platelet gel obtained is autologous, meaning that it derives from the patient and there is therefore no possibility of an allergic reaction or rejection. The treatment in fact consists of a shift of platelets to an area of the body that requires their activation, but where the body has not delivered the message. Furthermore, at no point of the treatment does the blood come into contact with the external environment, making it impossible for any contamination with microorganisms or any toxic or dangerous substances.
This procedure is not advised for any patient with an infectious disease or a condition related to the immune system.
